Getting Lash Extensions is an exciting way to enhance your natural beauty, but proper preparation is key to ensuring the best results. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular client, following these simple steps before your lash appointment will help you achieve long-lasting, beautiful lashes.
1. Do Your Research
If this is your first time getting lash extensions, take some time to research different styles and lengths. Classic, hybrid, and volume lashes all offer different looks, so knowing what you want beforehand will help your lash artist create the perfect set for you.
2. Arrive with Clean, Makeup-Free Eyes
One of the most important things you can do before your appointment is to arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes. This means:
• No mascara, eyeliner, or eyeshadow
• No lash strips or glue residue
• No oil-based products around your eyes
Oil and makeup can interfere with the adhesive, causing poor retention. If you’re unsure, give your lashes a gentle cleanse with an oil-free lash shampoo before heading to your appointment.
3. Avoid Caffeine Before Your Appointment
Drinking coffee or energy drinks before your lash session can make it harder to relax. Since lash appointments can take 1-3 hours, being jittery can make it more difficult for your lash tech to work on your lashes. Opt for water or herbal tea instead!
4. Plan for Your Appointment Time
Lash extensions take time, especially if you’re getting a full set. Make sure to:
• Use the restroom before your appointment
• Eat a light snack so you’re comfortable ( don’t worry we have snacks for you!)
• Bring headphones if you like to listen to music or podcasts
5. Skip the Curling and Mascara
If you typically use an eyelash curler, avoid it for at least 24 hours before your appointment. Curled lashes can make it harder for the extensions to adhere properly. Also, avoid waterproof mascara for at least 48 hours before your appointment, as it can leave behind residue that is difficult to remove.
6. Avoid Heavy Skincare Products
On the day of your appointment, avoid applying heavy creams, serums, or oils around your eyes. These products can create a barrier that prevents the lash adhesive from bonding correctly, leading to premature fallout.
7. Communicate with Your Lash Artist
During your consultation with your Lash Artist be open about any allergies or sensitivities you have. If you’ve had a reaction to lash extensions or adhesives in the past, let your lash tech know so they can do a patch test or recommend a hypoallergenic adhesive.
8. Be Prepared to Relax
Your lash appointment is a great opportunity to unwind. Most clients find the process relaxing and even take a nap. Trust your lash tech, close your eyes, and enjoy the self-care time!
Proper preparation helps your lash artist work efficiently and ensures your extensions last longer.
